Economist and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers announced plans on Wednesday to retire from his professorship at Harvard University at the end of the academic year amid scrutiny over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement, Summers described the retirement as a “difficult decision” and that he is “grateful” to the thousands of students and colleagues he taught and worked with.
Summers, former Harvard president, has also resigned from his role as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, according to a statement from Harvard spokesperson Jason Newton. He said the dean of the Harvard Kennedy School accepted Summers’
