Successor trustees need to recognize the value of presale seller inspections

Question: We are getting ready to sell our deceased uncle’s Silicon Valley house. The sale of the home’s contents and vehicles is complete. My cousin, a co-successor trustee, claims that presale seller inspections are “a waste of money.” He bluntly ended the group email to relatives, “If homebuyers want realty inspectors, let them pay for them.”

The other co-trustee, another cousin, shared your March 10, 2023, column with family members, touting the value in presale home-seller inspections.

If it is shrewd to have presale seller inspections, is it irresponsible to wait for homebuyers to decide if they will or will not hire one or more realty inspectors? If so, why?
