Man arrested on suspicion of assault after Sunnyvale knife incidents

SUNNYVALE — A 28-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after police said he threatened a security guard with a knife, slashed tires outside of a child care center and displayed aggressive behavior toward officers.

In a press release Thursday, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said it received a call at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday from a security guard at a shopping center at 150 E. El Camino Real. The security guard said he had approached the man about an alleged theft when the man removed a knife from his waistband, asking the guard if he was armed.
