Pedestrian killed in San Jose traffic collision

A pedestrian has died after a traffic collision in San Jose, at the intersection of Forest Ave and N. Redwood Ave on Saturday evening, at 7:31pm, just hours before the New Year.

The San Jose Police Department said in a tweet that the collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, and that the pedestrian was transported to the hospital with major injuries, and was pronounced dead. They say the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.

With the fatality, San Jose set a modern one-year record for people killed in traffic accidents at 65. Thirty two of those were pedestrians.
