Facebook and Instagram owner Meta plans to eliminate more positions this summer, and a majority of those are in the Bay Area.
The Menlo Park company announced Friday more than 2,000 local job cuts would happen in late July.
“I think it’s a sign that Meta is deadly serious about AI,” Joint Venture Silicon Valley CEO Russell Hancock said. “It’s their new mantra, watchword, their new corporate strategy.”
There have been more than 100,000 tech layoffs across the country so far this year, according to online tracker Layoffs.fyi.
