Sequoia and Palo Alto played a marathon of marathon games, 19 innings stretched across almost six hours, with 13 players throwing 576 pitches during 158 plate appearances.

The result Saturday was the most grueling 7-4 victory of Sequoia coach Mike Doyle’s career.

“I’ve been involved in a few nine- or 10-inning games, but it was eight or nine innings longer than any game I’ve ever been a part of,” said Doyle, who has been with the Sequoia program for nearly a decade
