Stone on RCV

Re. “Why Santa Clara County should not adopt ranked choice voting,” Page A6, Feb. 2:

Assessor Larry Stone urges he county not to adopt ranked choice voting (RCV). He has it all wrong.

Stone states that RCV adds complexity and confusion to the voting process thereby discouraging low-income voters from participating. There is no evidence for Stone’s assertion. Stone says tabulating RCV elections is confusing. But voters need not know how an RCV election is tabulated step-by-step; only how to rank their choices when marking their ballots.
