San Mateo County must
right oversight ship
Re: “How county failed farmworkers,” Page A1, Feb. 5:
Even worse than the owners in Half Moon Bay who allowed their workers to live in such conditions are the officials of San Mateo County who so miserably failed to exercise the oversight they were entrusted with.
When told that the county does have the authority to search proactively for employee housing, San Mateo County Executive Officer Callagy said that it was a “great provision” but “certainly there’s not enough resources to go door to door throughout the county
