California’s Problem Now Isn’t Fire—It’s Rain

Southern California’s long overdue rainy season is about to go into overdrive.

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles has issued a flash-flood watch for heavy rain that will start on Wednesday and stretch into Friday. State resources have been placed on high alert, and meteorologists are anticipating possible thunderstorms—a sharp contrast to what has been the driest start to any rainy season in Southern California history.
