SAN JOSE — In a surprise move, Bellarmine football coach Jalal Beauchman has stepped down after three seasons in charge of the storied San Jose program, the school announced Friday.

Beauchman, in a phone call to the Bay Area News Group after the announcement, read a statement about his decision.
