Leigh basketball player Tyler Suzuki is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Jan. 9-14 after he had received 39.31% of the vote at the 5 p.m. deadline Thursday.
Suzuki edged American basketball player Kiratraj Sanghera (35.43%). Menlo School soccer player Andre Gonzalez Lombera placed third.

Suzuki, a junior shooting guard, helped Leigh open BVAL Mt. Hamilton West Division play with two victories on the road. He scored 19 points in a 64-50 win over Independence and 14 in a 65-51 win over Piedmont Hills.
