What to Know
- County elections offices began mailing ballots in early May, and vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or a county elections office.
- Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked no later than June 2.
- Anyone mailing a ballot on Election Day should get a hand-stamped postmark from a postal employee inside a U.S. Post Office.
- Voters will choose from an extensive field of candidates hoping to replace termed-out Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.
- California puts all candidates on a single primary ballot regardless of party, and the top two finishers advance to the November general election.
