Suspect arrested following alleged assault in South San Jose

A man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a family member and fled, forcing police to clear out a South San Jose neighborhood as they searched for him, according to authorities.

San Jose police were called to the scene of an assault involving family members at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday on the 5600 block of Chesbro Avenue, according to tweets from the department. Authorities did not release any information on the victim or their condition, or how the assault unfolded.

The suspect fled the initial scene, police said. Officers cleared the surrounding neighborhood while they searched for him.
