Storm recap: A foot of snow fell on the Santa Cruz Mountains, closing Highway 17

A foot of snow fell in parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains as a rare winter storm spread across the Bay Area on Thursday, Feb. 23.

The weather temporarily closed Highway 17, downed power lines and drew crowds for snowball fights and building snowmen.
