San Jose: Man arrested after alleged ATM armed robbery spree

SAN JOSE — Police arrested a 20-year old San Jose man in connection to a string of late-January ATM robberies in which authorities said the suspect struck victims with a gun and used stolen cars as getaway vehicles.

The suspect was accused of four robberies or attempted robberies between Jan. 22 and 30. San Jose police said in a news release that he used a semi-automatic pistol while demanding money from people using ATMs, often physically hitting them with the gun. Police say he negligently fired the weapon on one occasion.

At least two stolen cars were used as getaway vehicles after the crimes were committed, police said.
