Driver strikes, kills pedestrian near San Jose freeway ramp

SAN JOSE — A driver hit and killed a pedestrian Monday morning near an Interstate 680 on-ramp in East San Jose, according to police.

The collision was reported just after 7 a.m. on South Jackson Avenue at the on-ramp north of Dobern Avenue.

San Jose police said in a news release that a woman driving a 2011 Toyota sedan was traveling north on South Jackson and was turning left onto the on-ramp to southbound I-680 when she hit a man in a crosswalk.
