49ers’ Purdy will have UCL surgery this month, aim for training camp return

A.P. Photo 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will have elbow surgery on Feb. 22 after being injured on this hit in the NFC Championship Game.

Quarterback Brock Purdy scheduled surgery for Feb. 22 to repair the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his throwing elbow and if all goes according to plan would participate in training camp.

Purdy was injured on Jan. 29 when hit on the throwing arm by Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick while passing. Dr. Keith Meister, the team physician of the Texas Rangers, will perform the operation. NFL Media was first to report the surgery date, which was confirmed by
