SAN JOSE – Firefighters on Thursday afternoon battled a pair of fires in San Jose, authorities said.
The first fire was reported at 1:08 p.m. on the 900 block of Whitehorne Drive, according to the San Jose Fire Department. The fire was contained to a carport, but it impacted a power pole. Power was knocked out to several nearby homes and two businesses.
Around 2:30 p.m., a second fire was reported on the 1200 block of Curtner Avenue, the fire department said.
Westbound lanes of Curtner Avenue between Cherry and Lincoln avenues were closed to traffic.
There were no immediate reports of injuries in either fire.
