Former Theranos president’s fraud trial delayed by struggle to pick jury

The criminal fraud trial of former Theranos Inc. President Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani was delayed at least day as the court continued to struggle with selecting a jury.

Opening arguments were reset from Tuesday to Wednesday for Balwani, who was Elizabeth Holmes’s boyfriend while working as second-in-command at the blood-testing startup she founded.

The process of picking 12 jurors and alternates for Balwani’s trial was slow-going last week as numerous potential panelists revealed they knew about Balwani from media coverage of Holmes’s four-month trial, which ended with her January conviction for defrauding investors.
