Driver dies after crashing through guardrail on Highway 237

SANTA CLARA —  A Sunnyvale man died after he drove off the roadway on Highway 237 and broke through a guardrail, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the driver of a 2002 Honda CR-V was in the eastbound anes. The vehicle was approaching Great America Parkway when it veered right, crossed three lanes, and went through a metal and wood guardrail on the south side of the freeway, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.

The vehicle rolled down an embankment and landed in a parking lot near Marvell Lane, Lee said. The driver, identified as a 33-year-old man from Sunnyvale,
