San Jose: Multiple fights, shooting reported after soccer game at PayPal Park

SAN JOSE – Multiple fights and at least one shooting were reported following a soccer game Thursday night at PayPal Park in San Jose, police said.

The San Jose Police Department said the fights and the shooting were reported at the stadium and surrounding parking lots.

More than one person was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries, “many stemming from physical assaults,” police said. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

A “large [contingent] of officers” was at the scene and an unlawful assembly was declared, police said.

The San Jose Earthquakes beat Cruz Azul 2-0 in an “international friendly” at the stadium Thursday night.
