More gloomy months could haunt the Bay Area job market as companies recently detailed planned layoffs or furloughs throughout the nine-county area in official filings.
United Airlines, Postmates, VMware and Gilead Sciences are among the firms that have warned state labor officials of upcoming employment cutbacks at their Bay Area facilities.
By far the largest of the potential job cuts are slated at the United Airlines facilities at San Francisco International Airport in San Mateo County. nited Airlines said it is planning the furloughs of 3,169 workers at San Francisco airport, according to the firm’s notice to the state.
